Destiny Arabians started in 1980 when Bob purchased
our first Arabian - a weanling colt - as a Christmas present for me. We added to our
equine family and Bob laughingly tells people he bought me horses to keep me out of his
office.
We started with domestic lines of Arabians and
up-graded - first to Egyptian-Related
horses, then to Al Khamsa's
and finally to a predominately Straight
Egyptian & Sheykh
Obeyd program.
Today, Destiny Arabians is located on 840 acres
high in the Eagle foothills just north of Boise, Idaho. This high desert range is
excellent for the natural growth and
development of superb Arabian athletes. All operations here come to a swift halt when the
horses put on a show for us, bannering out their tails and speeding swiftly over the
hillsides, looking for all the world like a giant flock of birds, swooping and diving.
This practice results in increased surefootedness, making them a delight to ride. The
daily trek from feeding grounds to the watering holes lets them travel and develop toned
muscles, increased lung capacity and hard, naturally trimmed feet. Our horses "winter
out" and produce masses of shaggy hair, but show none of the respiratory ailments of
their more sheltered brethren. Their quick response to our hails emphasizes the
characteristic Arabian bonding, and there is nothing quite like watching them come pouring
over the crest of the hill as they speed toward us.
Our horses have been used successfully
for show, endurance, pleasure/trail riding and ranch work. Our emphasis is on Al Khamsa & Straight Egyptian
bloodlines, utilizing many of the animals from the Pritzlaff breeding program.
The Pritzlaff influence is the common
denominator in our herd, and we are lucky enough to have several mares from Rancho San
Ignacio in our herd. We are proud to preserve & manage a small group of the Sheykh Obeyd Arabians
of which there are less than 800 in the world.
At Destiny Arabians we stand several stallions
- Reference sire DB Destiny
Moniet or "Tim", a chestnut Sheykh Obeyd Egyptian and
grandson of the beautiful *Bint Moniet El Nefous. He was our favorite endurance horse and
was one of the first members of our Arabian family. After his loss, he has been
replaced by his son DA Blue Moon
- the product of breeding the only remaining SO son and daughter
of Sir White Moon; Sonyet or
"Sonny", a red bay, Straight Egyptian & Sheykh Obeyd stallion. We acquired
him because he fit every subgroup in our breeding program and wasn't anyone's father, son
or brother! He is the product of a full brother-sister mating and his first four
generations are tail female to *Bint Moniet El Nefous; Serr
Serabaar, a Sheykh Obeyd, Straight Egyptian & Pure Babson
stallion produced his first foals in 2002. We very much like what his outcross
blood is bring to our program.
I was recently asked what our goal was for our
horses. I believe that our goal is to produce pretty, talented athletes, with
"tent" personalities. I want to produce horses that dispel the myth of the
"crazy arabian" - horses that you will welcome into your family and can do the
jobs you will ask of them. Check out these horses - we have made significant inroads into
that goal.
Our move to Eagle placed us in a remote area,
beyond phone and power lines. We are "off-grid" and operate on cellular phone
and solar/generator/battery power. Call us and arrange to stop by for a visit. We are
proud of the horses we have brought together and would love to share our vision with you.
Check out our map, and come for a visit
to walk the pastures and meet with our equine family. We welcome the opportunity to introduce you to these special horses, and would be happy to
work with you so that you, too, could enjoy being a caretaker of the Arabian Horse.
