| Due to foaling complications,
Nafir was raised as an orphan. For those of you who haven't dealt with an
orphan, this means lots of getting up in the middle of the night and being
"Mommy" with a milk bucket. The name "Nafir" means
trumpet. It was prompted by the melodic sound of his bellowing any time he
thought the bucket was later than it should be. It was especially
noticeable, just outside our bedroom window, at the crack of dawn. He is
the last, and only for us, foal of Sonimoniet RSI who was lost before he
could make an further contribution to the Destiny Arabians program. He
produced his first foal in 2009. |
